3D Head

Decided to do something I haven't in awhile and open up Zbrush. This was my first play around learning the tools again and getting use to it. There are more than a few things wrong with the anatomy but this first sculpt was more to just get back into using the program. So will continue to see what I can do in zbrush in the future, yup.

Windrake

Windrake; A large insectoid creature found living in thick forested areas. It is said that the rapid wing beating of even a handful of Windrakes can create overwhelming gusts of wind capable of felling a tree.

Yet another elemental monster, this time a dragonfly with the wind alignment.

Bloodcat

I was struggling to think of something to draw, but I remembered this random art prompt generator a guy called Joshua mentioned. So, I tried it, and clicked generate a couple of times, and this came up.

Actually, I've been reading a book series called the O trilogy by Maurice Gee. There's this creature in it, that I fancied drawing, called the "bloodcat". They are, naturally, red, and thirst for blood. They live in hot lands, and are generally kept by the antagonists as terrifying creatures to set on others. In the second book, the main character actually ends up sparing the life of one that was enslaved by the dictator figure of the story. I don't remember what happens in the third book (just started it now, and haven't read it for a billion years) but I liked the "never should have let it live" idea. And these bloodcat creatures are pretty neat to read about. Can leap like, wayyy too many metres.

YUP SO WHATEVER ANATOMY. I JUST WANTED TO DRAW FOR FUN TODAY SUPER QUICKLY. I NEED TO SLEEP NOW.

Boss Fight Grindfest

Boss Fight Grindfest is a game for andoird phones I'm making with a friend of mine at the moment. I'll be doing the art and he will be doing the coding. It's pretty much a boss rush styled game with a town do some shopping and prep at between bosses. At the moment we are mainly working on just getting the basic sprites into a working demo which is coming along nicely. This guy above is the first class we class we will be adding to the game, which is just your standard warrior. He is in a working version of the game atm and once it looks a bit better ill try get some screenshots up.

Arctelk

Arctelk; An agile creature most commonly found residing in frigid areas. With rigid limbs which taper into a sharp point, wild Arctelk are often found skating gracefully over frozen lakes.

An 'icy steed', not unlike the one me and Channelle discussed earlier this year. Another elemental monster.

Since we've been working on our fighting game characters, I haven't done much else, but today I did start on a birthday gift for my friend and flatmate, Annie! I drew her an original character of hers last year for her birthday, but it really didn't capture the feeling of the character. I decided to try again this year! Here's what I've got so far:

Magpie WIP

I really like magpies, so I decided to give painting a magpie a go. Unfortunately, I didn't realise how difficult it'd be for me to work with only blacks and greys (well, with other some other colours too but still). I'm thinking of leaving this as a WIP and trying to work on other pieces instead, and come back to this sometime. Wait a bit, Maggie!

Super Smash Bros. was hands-down one of my all time favourite game series growing up, so this was a lot of fun to do.

Tuesdayyy Chansday

Many years ago I scrapped together a roughly coloured original character thing. I felt like redo-ing it recently, just for fun, so bam! Here!

Again, roughly coloured (heck, even MORE roughly coloured than the original), because hey, I have work tomorrow and lots of planning to do first! Urgh I don't want to tell you how many years ago I made the top one. Let's just say it was a long time ago. There's not enough improvement considering how much time has passed, but there is undeniable improvement, and I could justify myself all day but I'll leave it at this - I didn't choose the drawing career path. I chose to keep it as a hobby, and something I only do when I feel like it. 

Gotta jet, humans. Planning for school time!

Sketch Compilation

This week I present a compilation of some of my sketches from the past week. This week I haven't done much painting as I have gone back to the old pencil and paper for awhile. The main reason I've done this is that I bought three new art books in the past two weeks, including Figure drawing for all its worth by Andre Loomis, which is a very good book. So I'm looking forward to getting into some serious studies over the next few weeks.
