What is colour?

Bleh week for digital painting. Did some value studies of environments and my character failed it up a bit so this is an earlier shot of her befor everything went down hill but o well, i still learnt stuff.  I also started on another small pixel thing and did a bunch of sketching which i should do a dump of sometime.

Xiuhtecuhtli - Lord of Introspective Fire

Xiuhtecuhtli, was the Aztec god of fire, day and heat. 

He was the lord of volcanoes, the personification of life after death, 

warmth in cold, light in darkness and food during famine.

Also he was moody, apparently.

Feeling a bit discouraged. This is an empty entry, I'm afraid. I did try produce drawings (several efforts) but it didn't really work out. If I can get something done before the end of the night, will delete this and share actual work.

Monday Monday

Pixel Me and a Character

Just for some fun played around with a small pixel me in photoshop

and for my character this week I decided to try paint a girl who could fit into the Jet Set Radio universe, which i have been playing again

After staring at Pixel Jon for a few hours, I broke out of my slack-jawed stupor,

and decided to feverishly make a pixel GIF Girl.

Surprise!

I wanted to make my friend a plushie, since she moved cities recently and is adjusting to a new life. I miss her a lot and I do joke about being bitter, but really, I am glad for her. She's got such opportunities for travel and experiences now. Made her this little fellow for support on her travels and overseas escapades!

Originally I was gonna make Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service, but then I hated the material I was working with so I tried using white and brown instead, and then the ears and head shape came out all wrong, and I was like, OKAY, FINE, YOU CAN BE ORIGINAL THEN. And actually, I think I like it a lot more than I'd like a Jiji plushie. It's whatever you want it to be, although I see it as more of a rabbit.

Tree Dude and thumbnail

I've been busy, so two things this week, One Character and a small thumbnail. The character was meant to be some form of garden defender as if they were extremely rare things. I also decided to paint at least one character each week now and maybe one really quick landscape thing depending on how the time goes.

Tomtit

Don't laugh at its name. It's adorable. It's like a chibi bird, with a head appearing disproportionate to the rest of its body. It's such a cutie though. Painted from a reference photo taken when I was down south in the Catlins near the Purakanui Falls. It was my first time to ever see one of these wee fellas in real life, so needless to say, I was so flippin' excited and happy. I hope I can see more of them next time!

I was painting a cat for practice and then noticed tom posted a landscape for his day, so in a quick panic I decided to step it up and keep gurlsday going strong. But really... I just kinda painted this quickly for no actual reason at all.
