So I've been pretty inactive over the past few weeks, but this is why. Japan guide 205, 96 pages of information i probably could have just googled well i was there. But i like to have stuff written down in a neat way so i can have no worries well over there yup. I'll be gone untill May 8th. although I'll try upload some of my japan sketches up here over that time.

Archival: World of Tomorrow

A commissioned illustration/poster design for a community event (featuring our art group) last year that unfortunately did not come to pass. The illustration/poster was not used.
The event was a pop-culture event, with a 1950s 'World of Tomorrow' retro-futurism theme. The client requested for a graphic featuring a raygun-toting woman evoking the aesthetic of early pulp fiction.

NZ Post totally screwed up and haven't managed to deliver my surprise, so whatever, no surprise then!!!! I don't know how much more I'll be able to come get internet - this and next week will be totally packed, and involve me getting totally packed, because Japan and URGHH I'M EXCITED

Anyway I sewed a thing for a cool friend (NO SURPRISE BLAME NZ POST) and then Grandma liked it and wanted one and I asked her if she just wanted plain and she said no, she wanted one like what I sent my friend, so I was like ok grandma, and I made her one too.

Grandma's one makes me crack up giggling. Same with the drawing I did of the penguin riding Ben in the post below. Goddd.

More Character designs, still pretty early. Last week I said I was going to do a warm lighting one, cool lighting and coloured...... well that didn't go too well. I struggled with that pretty hard for a for the first half of the week, then i gave up and decided to just colour them normally. So much to learn about lighting, shit is hard.

I've been progressing that walking drawing painting this week, but as a break I'm doing the three quick character concept thing again. This time I'mm going to change it up though and try do one in warm lighting, one in cool and one in coloured. will be fun.

Embersprite - fire elemental

I wanted to illustrate a fire elemental, my first thought was to communicate activity and boldness. Instead though, I chose to depict a more passive personification of fire.
